My treadmill
Jolene this blog is all for you! My treadmill is the greatest thing in the world. I got my treadmill from my grandparents. They wanted to get rid of it to free up some space and asked me if I wanted it and I jumped all over it. It is nothing fancy, but it calculates the time, the miles, how many fat calories I burn, and the calories I burn as well. To move the incline up and down you have to manually do it yourself, but really takes no time at all. This treadmill does have a safety feature, which I like. It requires a plastic key inserted in to a slot before you can turn the dial to actually have the treadmill move. My treadmill does fold up in to a pretty compact piece of equipment. The brand of my treadmill is Weslo and I believe they probably paid around 500 to 700 dollars. Well that is about it on my treadmill. Hope the information helps! :)
I hate ERs!
Tonight I spent part of the evening in the ER with Grandma Klein. As we sat there waiting for test results, I realized just how much I dislike everything about the ER...the wait, the bells that go off, the chitter chatter of nurses and doctors, the smell, the lab draws.......in the last month I have been in the ER twice, once with Grandma and once with Grandpa. Grandpa was actually admitted for a 24-hour observation to rule out a stroke and luckily tonight Grandma was sent home with some medications, but we need to go see her primary care physician hopefully within 48 hours to see if there is something else underlying going on. I sure hope not, but we will just have to wait and see.
Night in shining armor...or not?
Last night Ashley and I were driving the back roads to get to Grandpa and Grandma Klein's house to take them some leftovers. While I was driving, Ashley said, "Heidi, there was a calf in the ditch back there." I was like, "yeah right," but I turned around to see if it was for real. Sure enough stuck in a snow bank in the ditch was a baby calf. He must have gotten out and ventured down in to the ditch and just got pooped out from the high snow drifts he was walking through and he got to that point and got stuck. Well, I went down in to the ditch and was seeing if he was injured and just found that he was stuck, so Ashley took the truck down to the farmer's house and got the farmer while in the dark in a ditch I pulled and tugged and finally just picked the darn calf up out of the snow bank. He was so cold and shivering and he was just frankly tuckered out. I pushed the calf up onto the side of the road on solid ground and after a few minutes the calf and I started our slow walk towards the farmer's house. By this time, Ashley had returned with the truck and the farmer came walking down the road towards me and my newly found friend. Because he was so tired, we ended up just picking up the calf and putting him in the back of the truck and driving him the rest of the way home. Last night, Ashley and I became heros......in a sense! LOL!

The littlest diplomat!!!!
I think we have an upcoming lawyer or politician on our hands. I made spaghetti tonight for supper....Haylee loves spaghetti or at least I thought. We were all sitting down to eat tonight and Haylee was making up every excuse not to eat...."I'm tired," "Its too hot," and my most favorite, "I'm full." "Haylee, how can you be full when you have not eaten more than two bites?" Her reply, "I'm just full." So, tonight Myk and I decided to not battle with her anymore and just explained that if she did not eat supper that she was not getting any snacks, glasses of orange juice, or chocolate milk. She seemed to understand the concept and so we let her down and on her way. Well, Lexi on the other hand ate a huge plate of spaghetti and I don't know how many pieces of garlic bread. When Alexis was done, she asked for a treat and I told her to go get her PJs on and that after that she could have a snack. So after Alexis got her PJs on she announced that she was ready for her treat and came in to the kitchen. All of a sudden we could hear Haylee come running in to the kitchen and Myk and I were getting prepared for a battle and the conversation went as,
Haylee: "Mom (long pause and making sure she had my full attention), you know if you make me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I PROMISE I will eat it all up?"
Me: "Then what will happen?"
Haylee: "Once I am done eating it all up, then I can have a treat too!"
Myk was laughing so hard and the expression on Haylee's face was priceless. I don't know how I could argue with something like that. And to no avail, she ate the whole entire peanut butter and jelly sandwich and got her treat in the end. :)

Pain in the butt!
Maybe this competition thing is going to kill me in the end. Somehow I hurt my hip yesterday. I think it is from running/walking on the treadmill....I have been really pushing myself and I think it might have been too much. I went to the chiropractor today and he did an adjustment and told me to take it easy for a few days and the normal ice routine and antiinflammatories. This might put a damper in my exercise and weight loss routine.... :(

Competition
As I reported yesterday, I felt like my weight loss had become a competition with my husband, well actually it has become a competition. Karen and I joined the Biggest Loser 3 competition through a department at Luther and so we are now in a competition. This should be interesting, but if I can lose another 20 to 30 pounds, I will be ecstatic. This might be the extra push that I need to get on the dieting band wagon and do my exercises each day and improve my health and lose this extra weight that is not helping my body at all. The ultimate goal at the end of all of this is to run in the Lion's Pride Run in Fall Creek in July. I will let you all know what day that is so you can be there to cheer me on at the end! :)

Well its 2008....
Well, its 2008.....in the three days that I have had 2008 I have been able to accomplish very little of what I so badly wanted to have happened, but the one good thing is I have started back on the treadmill. I just got done doing 45 minutes on the treadmill and burnt like 212 calores and 70 fat calories so that makes me feel pretty good. My goal is to be down 10 pounds by the end of January. I think this is pushing it, but I like having goals for myself. This weight loss thing has become more of a competition for me now as this morning as I was working I heard some funny noise and so came in to the back room and found my husband on the treadmill walking. I didn't say a word, but now this has become more a competition and I love competition! My husband cannot weigh less than me. In the almost 12 years that we have been together, I have never weighed less than him until a few months ago, so it has to stay that way. :)
As far as the changes in my household, the three things that we have accomplished so far in 2008 is that Lexi has made her bed every morning, she has emptied the dishwasher as her chore (along with the help of Haylee), they have been keeping the toy room fairly clean, we have ate at home for all three nights, and we have done the dishes every night, so in my mind in three days we have done fairly well.
I know this is going to be a challenge, but for in three days, I feel that we have done a very good job and hopefully this weekend I will get more de-cluttering done in my life and just slowly keep working on this! :) Keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I work through this time in my life!
