Where has the week gone?

I cannot believe it is already Friday again. This week has been a week of trying to catch up on sleep and my sanity. As being the new youth advisor at church, I had the joy of planning and coordinating the Easter breakfast at church for Sunday morning. I ended up running to Eau Claire every day/night last week to get things for this. With no records from previous years to be found, I was pulling ideas out of a hat on what to do, how much food to prepare, and asking for advice from anyone who had worked these in the past. Needless to say, Saturday night I did not sleep very well worrying about everything for Sunday and 4:30 a.m. rolled around way too fast for me. I made it to church by 5 a.m. and got things going.....got the coffee perking, got the sausages frying, got the water boiling for the eggs, and by that time my reinforcements arrived (Myk and Alex). We all worked together and got things going and then a lot of other parents and students arrived to help out. Needless to say, everything worked out in the end and next year I have a better feel for what we need to do. Then I came home to only have to get things prepared for the Easter celebration of family at my house. Thank God the only thing I had to do was provide the house as I was bushed by this time. It was 9:30 or after before I got to sleep on Sunday night, and then the whole week started all over again.

It amazed me this week as a few days instead of taking an hour long lunch, I took an hour long nap. I was so refreshed upon awakening, it was just amazing.

Morgan, the puppy, is doing very well and becoming one of the family. She is definitely trying to find her place in the rankings around here and she definitely knows Myk and I are superior, but she is still trying to overpower the kids, so we are going to be working on that in the next few weeks. We have to remember that she is only 9 weeks old and just a pup and so we are going to have the good days, chewy days, piddle on the floor days, and not so good days. I think things will get better once the snow melts and we can tie her outside to spend some time in the sun. The kids are still loving her and Lexi is doing a great job with the extra responsibility. We are still getting up with her at least once a night to take her out to the bathroom, so that is where I am thinking some lack of sleep is coming in to play as well.

Artichokes????

Lexi asked me today what an artichoke was? I told her I thought it was a vegetable and then she asked me what it tastes like.....Does anyone out there know what an artichoke tastes like to answer Lexi's question?

Mud mud everywhere!!!!

It is 9 o'clock at night and my aunt walks in the house to inform us that she is stuck in the mud in our driveway. Sure enough she was stuck and stuck good. Me, Alex, and Myk went out and thought we would just push and simple as that, but mud was flying everywhere and now I have lots of laundry to wash. So, Myk proved tonight what his new truck is made of....I went over and got chains from dad's house, Myk secured them on each vehicle, and put his truck in to the low four-wheel drive and sure enough his little truck pulled her big van right out. Now he has one up on me with a "told you so" in my face as I told him we would never be able to pull anything out with his truck and now he proved me wrong.

Too much playing.....

They must have played too hard as it was naptime for both this afternoon and what better place but on the couch. Best friends in such a short period of time. Their relationship and bound is just amazing.

Check the tag....

On Friday on our way home from Chetek with Morgan, Myk realized that we had not double checked to make sure that Morgan was a she and not a he. Myk had told me I should check it out so I flipped Morgan on to her back and....
Haylee: "What you doing, Mom?"
Me: "I am checking to make sure the puppy is a girl."
Haylee: "Are you checking her tag?"
Me: "Well kind of...."

Myk had all to do to stay on the road while driving and I was trying not to bust out laughing as Haylee hates to get laughed when she is so innocent. The innocence of a three year old.

Here she is!

Lack of sleep!

Well, this weekend has been very long and challenging for the Norrish household. We brought Morgan home on Friday afternoon and found out that she does not like the kennel and so we have heard a lot of crying and whining going on at night. On Friday night at 11:30 she woke up and we were not sure what was her problem and so we took her outside and boy we were lucky we did because she sure had to go. Last night we took her out at 1:30 a.m., but no luck on the pottying, so think she was just lonely. At 5 this morning she started in again and this time she woke up not only Myk and I, but Haylee and Alexis were awake as well. On top of dealing with Morgan all night, Haylee decided to get up three times overnight and I had to work this weekend, and so I am really tuckered out. I am going to finish this blog and take Morgan out one more time and go to bed. Wish me luck! I am hoping that Morgan will sleep through the night and we can all get a good night's sleep.

Brave Girl!

Today while we were in Eau Claire, I was getting my nails done and Haylee was with me while Myk and Lexi were at Scheels. Haylee turned around on my lap and with her big beautiful green eyes said "Guess what, Mom? I am going to go and get my ears pierced today." This was a huge shock to me as I have been talking to her for months to get them pierced and she wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. I told her we would see what happened and did not think anymore about it. When I was done, Haylee took my hand and we were in the mall and she was pulling on my hand so hard, I thought my arm was going to come off. She took me right over to Claire's and said, "I am getting my ears pierced!" We were lucky as there was another little girl probably about six who was just getting ready to get her ears pierced. We told Haylee that she should watch this little girl go first, as Myk and I were both sure that Haylee was going to back out. She watched so intently everything that the lady did to cleaning the ears, to putting the dots on, to doing the actual piercing, and then all the aftercare. After that little girl was done, Haylee ran right up to the chair and said, "I am going to be your Brave Little Girl and I am not going to cry and I am going to get my ears pierced." So, we let her pick out the earrings that she wanted and the lady came over and she even explained to Haylee that if she did one ear that she had to do the other and that it was going to hurt for a few minutes and she told the lady, "I am a BRAVE girl and I am ready."

At this time, Haylee asked Daddy if she could sit on his lap and proud daddy sat on the chair and Haylee crawled back up. She sat so good and let the lady do everything to her ears to get them ready and Myk and I were so ready for her to back out.....BUT the lady said, "Okay, are you ready?" Haylee with her big eyes looked up and said, "YEP." So, the lady got close to Haylee's ear, put the machine up to her ear, and counted.....one....two.....three, and BANG one ear was pierced. We all three looked at Haylee's face and she acted like nothing had happened. NO TEARS, NO CRYING, NOTHING..... So, the lady got the machine ready, went to the other ear, counted..one....two........three, and BANG....the second ear was pierced. Once again, we all three looked at Haylee's face and there are NOTHING. She was so proud and we gave her the mirror to look at and that was that. She was a BRAVE GIRL and she had her ears pierced. To be able to listen to her brag as she had to call everyone and tell them her news was incredible. She was so proud and she did it herself! She now informed Myk and I that she is not a LITTLE GIRL anymore and that she is a BIG GIRL and that she gets to do BIG GIRL things now like LEXI. I have to get a picture tomorrow as after her BIG day today, she is all tired out and fell asleep early.

I HATE TURKEYS.....

If my husband dies because he choked on a turkey caller, I will definitely fess up that I shoved it down his throat. LOL! My husband has decided that he is going to go turkey hunting with the new bow that he purchased, but has not received yet. Because he is so SHORT, he had to specially order his bow and they told him it would take two to three weeks to get it in and he has been chomping at the bit for these last few weeks waiting for the long-awaited phone call. Brock, Scott (our friend), and I have been having a great time razing Myk that his bow is not in yet. It is a riot!

Well, Myk has decided that he should learn how to call a turkey and I am so tired of his practicing. I have now forbid him from the house in practicing cause he is driving me crazy, but yet when we walk outside even to go from the house to the truck, he has that stupid mouth piece in and he is so called practicing. The other day I was in his truck and I turned up the radio and lo-and-behold there was a stupid CD playing that was a self-help on the proper way and techniques how to call in a turkey. OH MY LORD!!!!!! He is crazy and he is taking me to insanity with all this! LOL

She is never going to make a farmer!

Yesterday we were eating lunch at Famous Daves and all of a sudden Lexi said, "Someday I would like to try milking a cow by hand." Myk said, "Well, I know someone who owns lots of milking cows and probably would let you try it." She was like, "REALLY." She said, "I was watching TV and they said to just grab the UTTER and squeeze and pull." We were like, "you grab the what?" She said, "THE UTTER." Oh my lord, Myk and I about had our drinks coming out of our noses……we had to explain to her that it was an UDDER and not a UTTER.....
